Dear Jimmy, Thanks for the gift! With love, the Republicans.
Can you believe that crazy old peanut farmer? Former President Jimmy Carter was quoted in USA Today charging Senator John McCain with “milking every possible drop of advantage” from his time served as a POW in Vietnam. Ouch. Foul ball! Flag on the play! Personal Foul! 5-minute Major and a Game Misconduct! Red card! (Please excuse the mixed metaphors) With all due respect to the office of the Presidency as well as your 7 years as a Naval Officer, Mr. Carter, you have officially crossed the line. I pray that you are not suffering from dementia. If John McCain wants to sing songs about his 5+ years in the Hanoi Hilton, I think his fellow Americans will say he has earned the right to it. Not only that, but how daft can you be to make such a comment on the historic day when Obama’s accepting the DNC nomination and attempting to rekindle MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech? Remember the post-partisan “we’re better than that” age of politics Obama promised? I guess that applies only if Obama’s leading in the polls, right? Considering the DNC believes itself to have nominated The One, maybe they just never anticipated the possibility of losing before? Anyway… Jimmy, you would have been better served to sit back and enjoy the spectacle instead of making bitter partisan statements which serve no point but to rile up your opposition.
